The YJC Club Championships started we believe in 1958 and has been regular part of the Clubs Diary and always produces some very good Judo at its peak in the 1980 we would have as many as 300 entries  but as the years have gone on numbers have declined. This year’s government recession has affected our membership with a lot of members either cutting back on lessons or quitting altogether because of financial problems, so we were not expecting a large turn out in fat this was not the case with an excellent turn out from our Junior Section and an abysmal one from our seniors.

 The new rules of Judo are proving quite a head ache, it seems that they are designed to stop good play all in the name of Health and Safety, for example the popular Drop knee shoulder throw and leg pick up throw are now banned in some cases. When will these bureaucrats realise its not the throw that is dangerous but the way it is executed, if you penalise bad dangerous techniques it will soon go away.
