YJC Summer Championships

The Bredgar section of the Young Judo Club hosted a special Summer YJC club Championships and invited all the YJC members from Sittingbourne, Milton Regis, Bromley and Bexley to compete. YJC Bredgar was on the verge of closing down because when the club was opened some 3 years ago we all thought it would be a short term project so they borrowed mats because of the hard work of Brother/ Sister Drew and Marcella Cullen the club has become a roaring success. Problem was the club who lent the mats needed them returned but a Grant form the Kent Community Foundation saved the day in the photo’s you can see the New Mats plus a new crash mat and two Judo Dummies. Kent Community Foundation recognised the need to support Village activities especially good ones like Bredgar YJC. The Club meets every Thursday during Term time catering for Junior from 5years old it is also hoped to start a recreational Judo section for Adults at the Club in the near future.

A Special mention must go to 13 year old Ashley  Jordan who won his 50^th Gold Medal at the weekend, this is  a really tremendous achievement one must ask the question if he can win this many gold’s by 13 years what will he have won in 10 years time Olympic Gold????

KENT COMMUNITY FOUNDATION awards grants of £250 to £7000 to local charities and community groups in Kent and Medway, who are working with children and young people up to the age of 19 (or up to 25 where children have learning disabilities) lacking opportunity.
