YJC Club Championships & Presentation Night
Young Judo Club Senior Presentation Night and Junior Club Championships
January 12th & 13th
The weekend was a very hectic one of the Coaches of the Young Judo Club, with the coaches attending the International Budo Federation’s Annual Coaches Re-evaluation course on the Saturday in Bexley which finished at 4.30pm, in the evening was the Annual Presentation Dinner. This year it was held at the Cherry Tree Restaurant, the YJC like to support local businesses and the Cherry Tree made an ideal venue with the staff being very helpful.
Appreciation Certificates were given to all YJC coaches who were Dave Boulding 6th Dan, John Clarke 4th Dan, Greg Garside 4th Dan, Keith Costa 3rd Dan, Ashley Costa 3rd Dan, Colin Carrott 3rd Dan, Pete Wise 2nd Dan, Miles Brown 2nd Dan, Sarah Jordan 1st Dan, Marcella Cullen 2nd Dan, Bruce Fisher 1st Kyu. A new member of our coaching staff is Paul Soulsby 1st Dan who was welcomed. The YJC which is based at Swale Martial Arts Club Sittingbourne and Bredgar Village Hall now has 12 fully qualified IBF Judo coaches and 5 fully qualified BJA Coaches quite an achievement, 5 of those coaches started Judo as children with the YJC.
Sunday was the Annual Junior Club championships and it shows the dedication of the instructors that they were there to officiate even with thick heads. Numbers were down this year because the comp was held on a Sunday rather then a Saturday, a lot of junior Judoka play football and they tell us that if they miss a match the coach will drop them from the team, this I find some what draconian if true Judo does not have a tournament every week. What is annoying some of the youngsters who are coerced into football have the ability to be Area and national Champions. The results are as follows:
