YJC at Brenda Jones Memorial 

Members of the YJC took part in the Brenda Jones Memorial Judo Championships on Sunday at Folkestone Sports Centre. Brenda was a pupil of the YJC from the early 70’s she went on to become a leading personality in the Judo and Sombo world reaching 4th Dan Judo and International referee in both Judo and Sombo. The event was organised by the Spitfire Judo Club.

 

The Club had 15 entries not the best of attendance but a lot were on holiday, what was pleasing was that all members came with in the top five. Many of the players who attended this competition are relative new to Judo but were spurred on by the success of the club in the recent Multi Nations, which were held in Sittingbourne. Both sections of the YJC were represented YJC Sittingbourne are based at East Street sports Centre and practise on a Tuesday night and YJC Milton Regis are based at the Academy of Sport & Movement on the Playing fields they practise on a Wednesday night.

The Young Judo Club will opening a section in Bredgar in September, this will be run by Bredgar Man Drew Cullen 1st Dan. The club hopes to draw children from the surrounding villages ie Borden, Rodmersham, Tunstal, Hollingbourne, Wormshill, Doddington etc.
