SPITFIRE OPEN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP
In Aid of Children’s Charity
Hawkinge Sunday October 16th
Once again members of the Young Judo Club (SittingbourneJudo) have been on the medal campaign trail this time it was in Hawkinge a village near Folkestone. The Spitfire Club who host numerous Judo and Sombo events is one of the leading Junior Judo Clubs in South East England and people from all over the UK travel to compete at their events. The Young Judo Club took 15 players to the event and to most Judo Clubs this would have been a good turn but not for the YJC a lot more members should have supported this event especially the Senior section where the club has one of the biggest senior section in Kent and could only field 2 senior players!
On the more positive side the club came back with following medal result:

It is always difficult to pick out individuals when you win so many medals but special mention must go to the Jordan Family who all won medals with Ashley winning two gold’s he entered his weight and the next one, this is not the first time he has achieved this, his little brother Liam entered his first competition winning silver. The Carrott brothers were our only Senior entries and both were in fine form winning gold, interestingly enough younger brother Danny who moved into the Heavyweight category with Lee taking on the middle weight spot, this was a good thing because Coach Martin Clarke did not want see the two brothers compete against each other as like most brothers there is a lot of rivalry between them.
Next big event is the IBF National at the Swallows on November 16th.
Members of the Warriors Grappling Academy based in Sittingbourne are of to Prague Thursday to compete in the World Master’s Sombo Championships they are Colin Carrott, Drew Cullen, Dave Hatch British Team Coach is Martin Clarke.
