International Budo Federation Advanced Junior Judo Grading Young Judo Club/Sittingbourne Judo members took part in the above grading, which was held at the Clubs HQ at the Swale Martial Arts Club. The grading system is designed so that when children gain more knowledge they can move up the ranking system, which is based on a belt colouring approach. The darker the colour the belt the higher the rank, this system goes against the modern Political Correct approach to examinations where nobody fails and standards are brought down to the lowest common denominator. The judo ranking is a meritocracy system where youngster are graded on their ability and those who get high marks get higher grades, they are examined on their competitive ability, theoretical knowledge, demonstration of technique, active participation in competitions, courses, club attendance. Age also plays an important part the IBF does not allow children to be come Black Belts, to reach green belt level children have to demonstrate Nage No Kata which is a historical form of demonstration of 15 throws done left and right is a preset manner. The largest Judo association in the country only expect adult students taking their black belt to perform this so you can see the very high standards the IBF expects of their Junior members. Sittingbourne Judo members results are listed below. The Young Judo Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country formed by Nobby and Margret Clarke in 1957 and is lucky to have it own permanent Dojo at the Swale Martial Arts Club in East Street Sittingbourne. The YJC cater for all standards, ages and sexes but prides itself on still producing champions, encouraging competition, which they feel is good for children. In a society where discipline, manners, respect, elite performance and self control has become a thing of the past, the Young Judo Club prides itself on promoting these aspects of life it is a shame that schools no longer teach Judo as part of its curriculum.
